Summary: A retelling of Season 4. Xander makes it further than Oxnard on his summer road trip.  Returning to Sunnydale, he attempts to reconcile what he’s learned about life with the gang’s expectations of him.

A/N: Timeline jumps between present time and flashbacks. Hopefully it is clear which is which. Actual dialog taken from various season 4 episodes. Anya never came back to Sunnydale.
